Starting Our Caravan Adventure: Searching for the Perfect Caravan

A couple of months ago, my fiancé and I dreamt up exciting plans to explore the vast and beautiful landscapes of Australia. We were thrilled at the idea of traveling, but we faced a big decision: choosing the perfect vehicle for our adventures.

Initially, I was set on getting a van—those sprinters look pretty epic, don’t they? An RV was also on the table. I wanted something all-in-one that I could manage on my own if needed, especially since I’ve never towed anything in my life!

My fiancé has plenty of towing experience, but I'm the kinda woman who likes to roll her sleeves up and get in on the action.  Towing is definitely something I’d need to learn. Plus, we were keen on exploring some pretty remote places, which made a caravan seem like a more practical choice.

We also have a baby on the way, so the extra space and being able to have a car to run around in once our home is setup would be a blessing.

Living in a remote area has posed its challenges. Prior to considering a caravan as our best option, finding RV centre's has been difficult, and the only vans we could find were selling on Facebook Marketplace.

Could you imagine setting up appointments to see each one individually?! If you've experienced Facebook Marketplace, I felt like it'd be a nightmare.

Having never stepped into a caravan in my life, I was open to trying something new. We decided to visit our closest Jayco Australia dealership. Stepping into the vehicles on site, we instantly fell in love with the layout of one particular caravan. The feeling was indescribable—it felt like the perfect fit for our new adventure.

After binge-watching more YouTube videos about caravans, we went back to the dealership for another visit. This time, we noticed ourselves paying attention to different details—storage options, USB ports, accessories, you name it.

Visualising what our day-to-day life could look like in this caravan was incredibly exciting.

Given our limited options, we might need to wait until the Let's Go Queensland Caravanning and Camping Show in Brisbane to explore more models. However, I’m totally smitten with the Jayco one we looked at, but I think it’d be wise to consider all our options and price points.

Even if we end up sticking to our original pick.

Choosing a caravan is a significant financial investment and a big step toward a lifestyle of travel. We’ve only just started looking, but we’re already excited about the possibilities and can’t wait to take you along on this journey.

This is just the beginning!

We’re always open to partnerships and collaborations to make our adventure even more amazing. So, if you’re as excited about this journey as we are, stay tuned for more updates and stories from the road.
