Our Gear

 Photos, Video & Drone

Have you ever wondered what camera gear we use for our content creation? Curious about which GoPro attachments, drone, and video editing software we swear by?

iPhone 8 Plus

Starting with the basics, I’ve been using my trusty iPhone 8 Plus for a while now. It’s an older model, and I’ve been considering an upgrade, but right now, saving is more important. Despite its age, it still does a decent job capturing what we need and I have no complaints so far.

Sony Alpha a6400

We currently have a Sony Alpha a6400 we use for stills on ocassion. This camera boasts a 24.2MP APS-C sensor and incredible autofocus capabilities. It’s such a powerful camera, and the quality it produces is amazing. I must admit, I don’t use it as much as I’d like because I still need to learn the ins and outs of this camera. I originally bought it to film my YouTube videos but ended up just using my phone. Once we are out on the road, I’m definitely going to take my time to learn how to use it properly.

DJI Pocket 2

Before I got my GoPro, I used the DJI Pocket a lot. It’s a fantastic little device, perfect for smooth shots and it has a flat lens, unlike the fisheye look of the GoPro. I still use it a bit for those smooth b-roll shots and will likely use it for future YouTube videos because of its portability and ease of use.

GoPro Hero 12 Black

This GoPro was a birthday gift from my fiancĂ©, I use it a lot around water and in places where I don’t want my other equipment to get ruined because it’s so sturdy. For around $500, you can get a compact, waterproof, shockproof, and really easy-to-use camera. The wide-angle shots are great for capturing the action, and the HyperSmooth stabilisation is top-notch. If you’re looking for an all-around camera to take on your travels, get yourself one of these.

Mavic Mini Pro 3 Drone

I saved for ages for this drone and bought it for myself as a Christmas present. The first one I received was faulty, but DJI replaced it right away. I now have a 3-year cover on it, because of this I’m still a little nervous to fly it sometimes. However, I absolutely love the footage it captures. It gives our videos and images an amazing aspect of how vast and remote some of the incredible places we camp are. For us, it has been integral when creating video content for our YouTube channel.

Insta360

This is MornĂ©’s baby, and the footage from this is incredible. He takes it a lot on motorbike rides and when we are out on the water. The 360-degree shots offer a unique perspective that giving you more room to play when selecting the size of your video. For example, there is no decision to shoot vertical or horizontal because the output of the camera will give you both options in editing.

MacBook Air

Lastly, the most important piece of gear is my MacBook Air. I was forced into replacing my MacBook Pro with this Air a few years back. While I don’t like that it doesn’t have USB ports, I have managed with a Bonelk multi-port adapter. This laptop has plenty of power for editing high-quality videos and images.

Editing Software: CapCut

For editing, I use CapCut. I started with iMovie but found CapCut to be more versatile for my needs. It’s great for simple editing, and I love being able to use it on my iPhone as well.
